If I'm not mistaken the rectangular shaped one is the Bo-Diddley, which this is heavily based on, hence the name billy-BO.
But, yes, I would love a Gretsch one day. Shame they're so expensive. A white falcon has always been my dream guitar.

It's called a Billy-Bo because Billy owns a vintage one-off ex-Bo Diddley guitar which is the mirror image of this one.  He flipped it over and had it produced as a regular model, calling it the Billy-Bo as it's essentially been designed by both of them  :)

Edit:  Bo called his the Jupiter Thunderbird, and I'm sure I read somewhere the Billy-Bo is a reverse version...

and I love the sound.

I love the Billy-Bo, it's comfortably my favourite of the non famous shapes. I'm trying to get my head around the vagaries of CNC on a Mac as I have a rather Billy-Bo influenced design I want to try and make some day.

Why is it, to me at least, that Fender style guitars are the only ones that look great with nearly all pickups. Gibsons etc not so much.

Also, although fender are much more flexible in terms of look, they still look best with single coils. I don't especially like the look with humbuckers but that powertrons looks excellent in this tele master. The mothers milks also took me by surprise, I didn't think they good handle so much gain so, being a massive frusciante fan, I sadly took them if my GAS list. Now theyre back on!

I would still rather powertrons on a thicker, Gibson style guitar, though.
