Pickups For a Jim Root Telecaster.
« on: July 07, 2012, 06:13:19 PM »
Hey everyone!
I have a Jim Root Telecaster (Maple fretboard) that I totally love. I just can't get down with the Emg's.
I am very interested in a set of Bare knuckles and I am looking for advice on a good set of replacement PU's for my tele. I play primarily metal.

Hello, welcome to the forum!  :D

I'm an old fogey and don't know much about modern metal, but on looks alone I'd be very tempted to try Black Hawks in that guitar.

But lets see what the young folks say.

I can come in here and talk up the Blackhawk haha. Really blows away any EMG's I've ever heard. Read noob_pwm newest review it's really accurate. It's so articulate, and not ear-piercing! I don't have any complaints really. Pickup height can make it go from really compressed and powerful to huge and open chords. It's hard to pick which is better but I'm getting to a sweet spot haha.

I'd probably try the hawk on this one too
but an alnico nailbomb would be tempting

Like everyone else is saying, BH's would be great for this.
