Orange OR15H

What are your thoughts on the Orange OR15H head?

has anyone played on one here? would be nice to know what your experiences are if so,

I've played it. Like most orange amps, i REALLY like it. Build quality is excellent too. I was really contenplating getting it but I already have a TH30 and I can get similar tones out of it.

I didn't play it, but in the reviews I've seen on YT it sound very fat. It's like the dirty channel of the Rockerverb 50 packed in a 15 watt class A Head. I am tempted to get me one.

me too, it is at an attractive price as well, I'm wanting a class A amp and prefer it to the tiny terror, hope to buy it when I have the funding.

When I first saw this, I was hoping it would be something like a "Tiny Terror Mk II" with FX loop and better EQ, but from the clips and demos it seems to be more of a high gain metal monster, so not really for me.

High gain metal monster?! Are you watching the right demos? It's a single channel vintage style amp with an extra gain stage. It's got enough gain making it very versatile but it's certainly not a metal monster. It's very open and vintage sounding.

But it does!! It does british vintage cleans. Gritty and slightly driven but still clean. It does clean just as nicely as the tiny terror and IMO sounds better. Just because it had lots if gain on tap doesn't mean it's specifically made for high gain music. It's a very "classic rock" sounding amp.

If you want clean cleans, look at the Dual Terror. Or something bigger than the OR15.

Yes I realise this is an amp designed for rock - the 'clean' sounds on some of the clips have almost as much drive as I'd ever use, so I probably wouldn't need 80% of the gain control's range.

I know that at 15 watts, they won't have massive headroom, but really I don't need that headroom - I've played 4-6 watt amps that did as much clean as I wanted.

Ah, ok. I get you now. It is a single channel and that channel is the gain channel. The cleans are still decent, obviously in the clips it was set with more gain than you'd use but that's easily customizable.

For clean cleans on a serious volumelevel, the Rockerverb 50 or 100 does a great job. The OR15 head seems to be designed for classic rock and hardrock. I think you can get some nice cleans on a tele, with the volumeknob rolled down.

Too sterile for my taste. I like the cleanchannel close to the point of breaking up.
