Laney LC15/30, VC30 owners?
« on: February 16, 2006, 12:06:49 PM »
Hello all, any owners of these amps on this forum? I've had an LC15R for a few years now, great little amp! Have heard great things about upgrading speakers, valves etc.
I have replaced valves as needed over the years, but seen an "upgrade" pack from Watford Valves, (Jensen Q10, and full pre/power set) The question is, will I get significant improvement at "home" levels? Is it worth £65?
   Any thoughts appreciated.

I don't know about the tubes but the jensen speaker really suited my LC15r,
I didn't like the stock speaker, it was a too clangy for my taste,
but the jensen ceramic is tighter, warmer and drives earlier than the stock one,
great little amp, i restocked mine with ruby tubes throughout and it gets played most days, great for recording too,

Sounds like what I'm after. I have been considering an ext cab but that detracts from it's portability (and I've already got a 'big' amp). If the Jensen can smooth out the top end, it will turn it into a monster.

I ve just put 4xECC83S JJs and 4xEL84 JJs in my LC30II. Believe it or not... it made a HUGE improvement.

The newer ones come with a Celestion speaker now, which is quite a considerable improvement over the HH invaded they had before. I've yet to re-valve mine, but I'm sure it'll be an improvement.
