Mag swaps in covered Pig ? too hard ?
« on: August 08, 2012, 11:54:49 PM »
So I have an alnico warpig that I really like.

I am curious about the Cpig. I've done a ton  mag swaps in uncovered duncans before but never in a covered PU

how how is it in a covered BKP to swap a mag and is just putting a standard size ceraminc gonna change an a pig to a cpig or is there a different wind as well ?

design is no different from a regular seymour
but, BKP ceramic models usually have the 4mm thick magnet
I suppose the alnico warpig has a 3mm magnet
so, you'll need thicker spacers as well, or you could try a thinner ceramic bar that won't make it sounds pretty like c-pig
you better ask tim first and aware that you'll lose warranty

removing the cover might get tricky, but no big deal
take out the solder points between the cover and baseplate
than use pliers between one of the pickups leg and the cover edge to push the cover out (by spreading the pliers legs... do not try pulling the cover by the edge with the pliers or you might damage it)
one side at a time, no simultaneous force needed
