Nothing worse than a heavy guitar case!  I know they provide protection, but can't they be strong and light?  I nearly have a hernia every time I try to carry a PRS case more than a couple of hundred yards.

I guess the remedy is a swampashstrat in a molded Fender-case.  :)

Well, I've got a couple of Fender/SKB cases, I've got the parts to make a swamp ash Strat (or Tele)..... now all I need is the get-up-and-go to put them together....  :|

I find Hiscox to be pretty good mix of strong and light

Busy at Frightfest this weekend, so that's out.

But I will feel more inclined to get something done once the weather cools off a bit.

Ultimately, that may well be my epitaph.

I had one when they first came out.  I loved the sound range, loved the sculpted neck that was so much easier to navigate than an LP.  In the end I sold it because it was just too dang heavy.  I was doing 4 and 5 45-minute sets a night and my shoulder would kill me.  I wish I'd kept it for studio work though.  It really was an excellent guitar.

But it suffered from "Korean neck syndrome" and had no mojo at all.  I expect the old Japanese ones don't have those problems.
What would be this syndrome?

I have to admit I dislike the Aria Pro headstock shape to the point I couldn't buy one, but that's mostly me being snob

It's hard to explain.... just that I've never tried a Korean guitar with a neck I felt comfortable with.  Apart from PRS SEs.

Just joined the forum, hopefully not too late to add to this.

I was given a 1980 PE800 by my late father. He wanted the Les Paul umph with a strat neck and ended up with this. It's a joy to play, not too heavy as it is ash and has a great neck. Tuners are dying a slow death, need to get some grovers on it, and I have a Gibson case which is just right.

Mine is in good nick but has had P90s fitted, sound great but one-dimensional.

The PE 800 is an interesting one as it is built with Fender-like materials. Mine has an ash body and maple neck. Haven't tried it with humbuckers but quite fancy taking the P90s out and fitting some Duncan P-Rails to get the humbucker/tele sort of sounds with a bit of fancy switching. Should give me the best of both worlds?
