Strat Pickups
« on: September 08, 2012, 10:09:57 PM »
I just put together a strat from parts. It's a solid alder american deluxe body with nitro finsh, and a maple neck with rosewood fingerboard. I typically use .11 ernie ball strings. I play rhythm and lead in a P&W setting. I'm wanting something that will work well with my overdrives, I stack a freakshow fx rabbit and a lovepedal eternity fuse for my main drive sound and just the rabbit for an edgy clean sound. I usually play humbuckers but i'm wanting to get some singlecoils that will sound great and still give me a little of that strat sound. A buddy on a gear forum had suggested the sinners. Said they were pretty awesome. Thanks in advance for your help.

What style of music do you play? From what info I've gathered the Sinners are quite humbucker-like due to their high output and they are defenitely aimed at hard rockers and metal players, but that doesn't mean they can't work for more mellow stuff.

I would suggest you take a look at the Trilogy Suites and Slow Hands as well.
Mississippi Queens, Stormy Monday/Apaches, Emeralds, Nailbomb (bridge)

I play contemporary Christian music in the vein of Hillsong, Lincoln Brewster, Planet Shakers, Desperation Band, New Life, etc. I do use a generous amount of gain, but yea, nothing aproaching metal.

I really like my Trilogies, and the bridge pup with a base plate is nice and fat.
They handle gain really well but still have a Strat character about them imo.

not Sinners for sure. I even think Trilogies might be a bit too hot.

From having listened to your clips, I think Irish Tours.

I'd say Apaches or Irish Tours would be great in that guitar.
