As a tele addict I would recommend you a single coil bridge pickup, like the FLAT 50's, that's the set I have.
I'm not sure if I will keep the single coil tele neck pickup as is but the bridge is definitely perfect for rock'n roll and heavy blues stuff  8)

If you want p90 i think a mq set would suit you well and you'll get the possibility to swap em for humbuckers if you want. If you're going true p90i think a nantucket could be the way to go.

Not sure a Tele is the most obvious choice for the bands you mention. Now it's a great guitar in it's own right, so if you're out for "something else" (and assuming you already have a good 'buckers guitar) I strongly suggest you stick with the classic Tele design and put a pair of blackguard 50s or 52s in it (and a 4-ways switch).

While that's true, if the Tele can't really do what I play, then I would wind up not playing it. I know a few guitarists who go the tele/emg route, I just can't stand emg's. Was hoping something like a p90 could put me in the realm of my style just with a different flavor from my usual LP's and Explorer.

I think you can cover those styles with a Nantucket loaded tele. I love p90's for (classic) rock. If you wan to stick to single coils: flat 50's.

Think I changed my mind on guitars, tried out a PRS Starla X and an SE One and I think I'm gonna go with one of those, they both played and sounded awesome. Not sure if hum-sized 90's or regular P90's are in them, but should I stick with either the MQ or the Nantucket in those guitars?

I like the sound of a nantucket... seems like a cool idea.

I've been snooping around a bit and see that some people find theirs too bright, and wind up swapping the pickups for either really low output or neck pickups. Will the Nantuckets be a problem for a bright guitar?

They have bite, but P90's usually sound fat enough. I would not be afraid to install a Nantucket in an SE One. You can always adjust balance with pots and capacitors.

What do they find too bright, the SE pickups or P-90s in general?  I'd be surprised if it's the latter.  P-90s are fat-sounding pickups, they don't need to be high output to get a big sound, and they're great clean.

Unfortunately I haven't tried any of the current BKP P-90s, I would like to try a Nantucket in one of my Juniors and maybe a set of Blue Notes.

I'm pretty sure they meant the guitar is quite bright. Some said the original pickup was fine, just wanted a bit more out of them as one would with aftermarket pickups, and alot of them were too bright or powerful.
