Looking for a decent amp or half stack,any suggestions ?

The cab does what you'd expect from a small budgetcab. The Micro Terror just sounds way better on a good 2x12-cab with by example V30's. Or even a 112 V30-cab will be the icing on the cake.

Before I bought my Micro Terror I tried it with the Orange 1x8 cab and whilst it got plenty loud enough, it sounded really muffled and boxy.

I use mine at home and with my band (it's my backup amp) through either a 1x12 with a Celestion CL80 or a 2x12 Zilla Fatboy 2x12 with V30s and it's plenty loud enough, especially when mic'd up, to use live and also sounds good for what it is too.

Best £89 I've spent in a long time tbh  :D

I think after all my research i have done on amplifiers i am favouring something like a Vox AC as i want something with crystal clear clarity on clean  and just rigging up a TS 808 or TS9.

I don't know what research you've done but I don't think a modelling amp run clean with a Tubescreamer is going to get you anywhere close to the AC/DC sound.

It supplements the Marshall sound but it's definitely not the Marshall sound. Only a Marshall is!

Try the new DSL 15 heads, they're pretty nice.

Yeah i know i may not got the total AC/DC sound i strive but i also want to be able to play the early oasis stuff aswell and this setup will let me accomplish that sound,i know Angus doesn't use any effects pedals whatsoever and just hooks straight into a marshall but i don't have 3K to throw on a rig up like that lol,and as i said in my opening post i had owned a Marshall MG50 DFX and the experience was poor for my taste so i want to go in another direction.

THe MG & DSL are completely different worlds as far as amplifiers go.

You're maybe a touch confused as to what it takes to get that sound. both noel gallagher and AC/DC use marshalls. you don't need to throw 3k at it. you just need a low wattage amp you can crank.

An MGDFX as stated is a solid state amp, you weren't getting a real taste of what marshall is with it. you can't judge there valve amps on that. not even in the same ballpark

Putting a Tubescreamer into a crystal clear clean channel will not give optimal results, it's not really how dirt pedals work.

either the micro terror or the JCA20 or a low watt blackstar (which is strictly speaking hybrid, but sounds good for the money) are all good suggestions

I suggested the JCA as Soldano's are a traditionally mid rangey amp, similar to a hot rodded marshall. they're 20 watts and if you add a good attenuator you'll be able to crank it and get what you're looking for or even without. Way closer than a vox and TS. An orange is also the epitome of midrange brit growl.

you're asking for advice but not really taking any that anyone's given you.

Right i see,it's not that i am not taking the advice on board i am simply keeping my options open,also most of what has been suggested to me so far is going to cost a fair chunk of wedge if i want to hook up a Micro Terror to a 2x12 cabinet which i ultimately do if i was to get one of those, i will listen to anything anyone puts forward on here and i will explore those avenues like i have been doing so don't think i haven't been listening  :idea:

Btw Noel used a Vox AC30 and a TS9 Tubescreamer in his early days on the Morning Glory Album ;)

The character of the Vox vs Marshall is very different. AC/DC is all about cranked Marshalls. You're not going to get an AC30 to sound like that, although if you get a proper AC30 and crank it up it might well still sound cool. The point is between those sounds you're after you'll need to strike a compromise.

Also, just like Tekbow pointed out that the MG50 DFX isn't really anywhere near a benchmark for the marshall valve sound, the Vox Valvetronix etc is nowhere near the AC30 sound. I used to rehearse with a valvetronix (cant remember the model) on a regular basis and I have to say, hands down, those heads are the worst sounding and worst constructed amplifiers I have ever used and using it with a tubescreamer won't make a difference because the the solid state preamp in something like a valvetronix won't react in the same way as a AC30 valve preamp at all.

I feel like you may as well go for a line 6 modelling combo of some description, which probably isn't much different to the amp you have now, but it might just sound better. Or find a pod or something and use it in front of your current amp just to increase the range of sounds you can get.

Nothing but cranked valves sounds like cranked valves.

The main problem here is that a great amp costs a great amount of money!

However for a nice cheap option get any of the small heads. I think the micro terror is £89?

Ok guy's thanks for pointing out the VT's aren't really up to much in comparisan to the AC's,i will go for a Micro Terror and lookout for a decent 2x12 Cab with hopefully something like V30's in there,btw what are those RK Cabs like ? anyone had any experience with them ? also what can i expect if i rig up a TS9 to the Micro Terror' would it be any good ?

Regarding the RK cabs from what i've heard in clips they're very nice especially for the price. I currently have a custom sized one being made. That's a big bonus for me that everything is made to your spec if you ask for it.
