I recorded the Oil City documentary but haven't gotten around to watching it yet.

My band has decided to try and cover 'Roxette' and whilst it's easy enough with only the 3 chords in it; the way Wilko plays is a total b!tch to try and cover

I had to dig through Youtube and find a few videos of him talking about his playing technique and I've never seen anything like it before at all. Definitely a player with his own style!

I've always avoided trying to cover and Wilko era Feelgood. He's one of the few players where I'd feel uncomfortable trying to impose my own 'style' on his songs. You have to try and duplicate his playing and it's NOT easy.

Tell me about it!

I'm just going to have to try and make something fit but if it sounds rubbish then we'll have to drop the song.

The others in the band think I'm just whinging about the technique because I can't be bothered!

Do you have to copy those jerky movements he does in order to play like him?

(That is a serious question!)

Hope not!

He always looked like a bit of a psycho during stage performances with that evil/vacant stare and jerky forwards/backwards movements.

When I get home I'll dig the videos out again where he describes his playing style, he makes a much better job of explaining it than I ever could!
