Of course all super strats are all down to Eddie Van Halen but I cant believe there hasnt been a production of EVH super strats since I can remember.  Any one have any experience of playing these that Andertons are selling?  Think im going to have to get one!

They will not be available for a few weeks. It's a brand new model. I will be trying them out as soon as they arrive. I'm hoping they will be a great guitar for the price. A bit fanboyish but feck it, I've been a huge fan since the 80s and I always loved his paint jobs.

I don't much care for superstrats and I really dislike Floyds..... however, the black and white one does look very cool.  In the (very unlikely) event that it has a big chunky neck, I might be tempted at that price.

As far as someone not doing this sooner, it's probably licensing cr@p having to do with the stripes image.

Charvel did it about five years ago as a semi-limited run. I had one, it was a fabulous guitar:

I ended up selling it just because I didn't really play much Van Halen any more and it is probably the most conspicuous signature guitar imaginable and it's very hard to make it "yours" as it were.

Yeah must be due to owning the rights or whatever, I think theyre part of the EVH line.  I thought charvel did some but as you say there cant have been many.  I think for what you pay theyll be good guitars.  theres no reason it should be expensive it all simple stuff put together.  Dont think ill use mine for any thing other than to mess about on now and again and for decoration somewhere.  I'll probably take it to bed and pray to it sometimes too.  EVH is God

They all look cool but think i should get the 'red one' as its the most iconic.  Still I could get all three altho id ont think my missues would be too happy

that'd be my concern- i love evh but i don't really like sig gear. This is probably silly (and most likely defeating the purpose of the entire venture), but i wonder if it might be an idea to release a slightly cheaper, non-striped version?

(killer charvel, by the way :))

The EVH Flange and Phase are pretty cool though.

This is a good point, and has convinced me not to buy one of these.

(Which, on the other hand, is nonsense, as none of my guitars will ever be seen on a stage, so I might as will have an entire collection of EVH signatures, Zakk Wylde Les Pauls and John Birch Super Yobs.... but whatever.)

Same lol. Thats why I dont mind being a fanboy and buying one. I'm gassing for a PRS SE Frederik Akesson sig too. Not because I'm an Opeth Fanboy but at £499 that looks like a sweet guitar for the dosh. I'm looking for a guitar to downtune to practice my Sabbath on and it looks just the ticket. I've heard great things about the PRS SE models. Does anybody have one?

Funny you should say that, I like the look of the Frederik Akesson signature and the Nick Catanese one (the newer red one without the ET logo!).  Basically because they're LP types with fairly chunky necks and ebony fretboards.  The only reason I haven't bought one is because I'd like to try it in person, to make sure it's a good one and not too heavy for me.

The SEs are good guitars, they don't feel "too Korean" if that makes any sense!  Pickups aren't the best, the nut and tuners need upgrading but the basic chassis is very well made, especially when you consider how cheaply you can get hold of some of them.

I've tried 3 PRS SE guitars,
SE Custom 24, SE245 and SE Tremonti Custom

Having tried the SE Custom 24 and the SE245 I was actually very unimpreesed and disappointed, considering the hype. The necks felt wierd to me and I found myself fighting the guitar, I really didn't like the pickups in the Custom 24 either - muddy and weak.

Before trying out the SE Tremonti Custom I was very sceptical and considering my previous experiences I really didn't get the hype, but i was just too tempted to try the Tremonti seeing as hes one of my favourite guitarists and its an awesome looking guitar. I loved the Tremonti, though - beautiful guitar, awesome neck and playability and the pickups weren't half bad and the tremolo bridge was rather sturdy. Very impressed and I liked it far more the the Yamaha SG1000 that I tried earlier, which is almost twice the price. I'm definitely gonna buy one in the future.

Anyway, I'd assume that the Akesson sig is more in the Tremonti mold in terms of design than the Custom 24 so I'd expect it to be quite good.

Ive got a Bernie Marsden model. Its a really nice guitar, well made, excellent quality only one minor problem had to have some work done on the nut, apart from that really happy with it. Pickups are fine.

Is it weighty?  How does it stack up against a les paul?

On the issue of playing signature stuff I dont really mind. Ive often played a George Lynch ESP live and hardly got close to playing any hair metal other than doing the odd Van Halen cover.  Think it dependson how similar your guitar is to your playing.  When Zakk Wylde picks up a Randy Rhoads guitar or a Dimebag guitar I dont tink any thing of it same with any one who picks up a Randy Rhoads Jackson.  Every one is the 80's who played a super strat with a funky design on pretty much is tipping the cap to Van Halen.  Id love my next purchase to be an Eric Johnson signature guitr oh an this van halen thingy obv.
