The EVH Flange and Phase are pretty cool though.

never actually tried them

This is a good point, and has convinced me not to buy one of these.

(Which, on the other hand, is nonsense, as none of my guitars will ever be seen on a stage, so I might as will have an entire collection of EVH signatures, Zakk Wylde Les Pauls and John Birch Super Yobs.... but whatever.)

yeah same here  Well... never say never, but at the moment anyway i'm not gigging.

They're basically the same as the respective regular pedals, both with an extra button for features. The Phase has a Script/Block logo switch that definitely comes in handy, and the Flanger has an instant EVH setting, which basically gives you 2 pedals in one as I like setting the knobs for a cool chorus tone.

IIRC these are made in Mexico. Not sure how accurate the info is, but it seems believable due to the price. Anybody, know if this is true?

It's true. That doesn't mean that they are bad guitars though. Lots of quality stuff has come out of Mexico in recent years.

Think that only rings true for sig guitars that are highly personalised visually speaking? I've owned a number of sigs over the years, the first because it was Joe Satrianis sig, then after that because i genuinely felt they were awesome guitars in their own right. The Satriani was a JS1000 with the black pearl finish, which was actually pretty nondescript, it didn't scream "SATRIANI SIG". The Chromeboy is a different matter, although i wouldn't say no to one.. Actually these days I'd give my left nut for one of the original JS1 sigs in white or black. BTW i thought the JS1000 was a cracking guitar.

I've technically had 2 VH sigs, i had the peavey wolfgang, and I currently have an axis, which are great guitars in isolation from VH. I wasn't keen on the wolfie because it was a VH sig actually, but once i played it, I traded an ESP MkII for it. Will always regret letting that wolfie go. With the Axis, i think enough time has passed to allow it to be disassociated with VH. These days the story is that the body shape had already been designed before VH got involved. Haven't played the fender EVH sig, always just preferred the Peavey wolfie.

And i also currently own a kotzen tele, yes it has gold hardware, but it's actually not garish. and you wouldn't look at it and think "Richie Kotzen". in fact i had no idea it was a kotzen sig the first time i tried one out, just realised it was a great guitar. then i found it was RK's sig, was a rare case of the guitar getting me into the player rather than liking the player and wanting the guitar.

Yes, that's a fair point.

I've got a Fender Robert Cray Strat which I bought (a) because it's a hardtail and (b) it has a reasonably chunky neck.  Nothing to do with the artist association.  I kind of wish it didn't have the Robert Cray signature on the front of the headstock, but it's not really very noticeable.

I've also got a Kenny Wayne Shepherd Strat neck which, again, I bought because it's a nice chunky neck (and at least the KWS signature is on the back!)

Oh, and I've got loads of Les Paul signature models!

BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

I'd be willing to bet that the PRS DGT is one of their biggest sellers and I imagine many who own one perhaps don't even know who David Grissom is. It is a belting guitar and, as has been mentioned, is not visually strikingly associated with the artist. I did toy with stripping the finish off the Charvel EVH Art Series I owned (a production version, not the hand striped by Ed one) but decided just to sell the guitar in the end. But yes, agreed, a sig that doesn't scream artist association is fine. Mind you, I've had non guitar people remark upon seeing my Strat, "Is that one of them Jimi Hendrix guitars?" as if no-one else had ever played one. So you can't win.

I toyed with the idea of getting a "Rory" strat when they came out, but decided against... partly on price and partly because it would be SO "Rory" (and when I got a sunburst 60s Roadworn it pretty much satisfied that itch).

I have recently had vague cravings for a Marc Bolan Les Paul (and a Jimmy Page one, actually), but its somewhat prohibitive price-tag was all the cold water I needed

I'm fairly certain I'll never ever go "hmm, I fancy me an EVH stylee strat", though...

the principal of eddie style strats is appealing, stripped down raw rock machines, but i missed out on the US charvels san dimas style 1's (tellingly you don't see many on ebay), and i dont like the aesthetic of the MIJ ones, although i have to say they play and sound everybit as good as the US ones. and the pickup config isn't quite what i'm looking for. I like a SC in the neck and a bucker in the bridge, thats it.

gimme that in an oil finished body and neck and maybe an ash or alder body and i'm in.

the visual thing with the eddie guitar is just what he wanted, but i really dig the concept past that

I like what Philly said, too many people with LP's hating on sig guitars when in fact, they're playing sig guitars!

   Gotcha!

(Truth be told, there are a few more of those "Les Paul signature models" than have been "NGD-ed" on the forum...)
