Too much wine!!
« on: February 15, 2013, 03:42:18 AM »
This thread is a prime example of why you should not post on forums when you have had a couple of bottles of wine.

I THINK what I was meaning to ask is what name would get you excited if there was a BKP released named after a song you liked.

I thought it looked like a promising thread!

But now you've gone and confused things by editing your posts.....

Even I couldn't grasp what I was on about. I think it was basically - What name would you give to your your perfect pickup?

Must admit I definitely had trouble following your first post here! The second one cleared things up though.

I thought it was more like give an example of a song with a guitar sound you really like... which would then give the pickup its name.

I can't remember which songs you had listed though?

I was thinking of "Put the Blame on Me" from Brand New Bag by The Mother Station, which features an awesome tone from a Les Paul Goldtop with P-90s.  At least that's what she (Gwin Spencer) was playing in the video, for all I know it could've been a Tele or something on the actual recording..... anyway, it would be a pretty sh!tty name for a pickup, unfortunately.  :?

A couple of my favourites are already covered - Mississippi Queen and Nantucket - but I don't own either pickup.  I guess I'd like a Robin Trower Strat set but I can't think of a name (beyond the obvious Bridge of Sighs)

Funny story.

Oh, to answer the question: the aftermath.

The Mule is a perfect name. Carries you anywhere you want if you treat her nice.

I think some of the most descriptive names in the BKP line are Aftermath, Stormy Monday, and Supermassive.

Aftermath just screams decimation and heavy music, Stormy Monday gives off an atmospheric feel to it that fits its tone, and Supermassive because a good P90 just has a massive, heavy tone. The others, leaving out the tones of the songs or artists they're named after, are harder to decipher IMO.

I'd like a 14k ohm 43 gauge ceramic bridge pickup (not unlike a ceramic Rebel Yell ) for my Michael Schenker fixation and call it "Obsession" after the UFO album......can't call it Lights Out as Dean call their Schenker pickups that , although their pickups seem a bit too hot output to my ears for classic era Schenker.
