In your opinion, IIRC, I can get the SH-4 with 4 wires and put a coil split switch in it. It seems to me that in single coil mode it will not come close to a true P90 sound.

A coil-splitted paf-like bucker will neither sound like a proper F-like single-coil nor like a proper P90. Now I don't have enough experience with hb-sized P90s to be of any help here, sorry.

Thanks for the honest opinion.. I do need the P90 sound.

Real single coils and P90's will never sound the same. The big coil gives a P90 the fullness and midrange of a humbucker, just with a little more edge on top.

Get an MQ, you will love it.

Hello Telerocker,
Ah yes that would be cool. Unfortunately, am sure the expense is more that the guitar and my pocketbook :(!
Thanks for the advice, though.......
