I'm new! Replacement for 490R in SG?
« on: February 20, 2013, 03:53:39 AM »
I managed to kill my neck 490R in my SG and am looking for a good replacement to compliment the 498T in the bridge. I play mostly bluesy john mayer-esq stuff but I like the occasional bite that 57's can bring without giving up to much of that fat sound. I like the samples from the Stormy Monday and Emerald but I'm open to anything. I also usually play pretty clean and I'm avoiding the Gibson 57's because I've heard they can also be a little thin (much like the 490R).

I've no basis for comparison but I feel like a vhii neck could do this with an sg

I'd consider a Mule-neck. Not thin, wonderful cleans.

Cold sweat neck is superb in all-mahogany guitars
