Yeah, pretty depressing.  I've only read a few of his books (and did enjoy them), but sad news is sad news whoever it is.

While I'm here, I recently stumbled across a couple of books by Glen Duncan - The Last Werewolf and Talulla Rising.  First time in years I've read anything well-written, interesting and original in the horror field.  Apparently his earlier books were in different genres, but I'm going to investigate them.

I read about that last night.  I thought that his attitude towards it was pretty inspiring, actually. Facing down death with a loud and clear "f*ck you!"

I think the way Wilko Johnson is dealing with his own diagnosis is amazing.  Unless he's a really good actor and putting a brave face on it, he's genuinely embracing the time he has left.

It is indeed inspring (but also something I don't like to think about)

Just read Child 44 by Tom Rob Smith. Really enjoyed it, definitely recommended. Got through it pretty quickly which is unusual for me with books.
