i thought the Zoot SGs looked fantastic, and they must have sold well enough, because it's pretty much impossible to find one now.  from the ones i've seen, i don't think it looks as good on the Les Paul, but i certainly don't find it offensive.  no one's being forced to buy them. 

it would be ironic if you tried one and found you loved the playability and sound :)

I think it's terribly ugly.  I think that the Zoot SG is better, but only in the way that gonorrhoea is a marginally better STD than syphilis.

It's made from "several layers of individually color-died birch hardwood"..... so yeah, plywood.

I suspect that means it'll be heavy and not very resonant, due to all the laminates and glue, so I probably wouldn't like it anyway, regardless of the looks.

Edit:  the back looks pretty funky!
