Install BKP into an active mount route?
« on: April 16, 2013, 01:51:34 PM »
Apologies if this has been brought up before... if it has- perhaps someone can point me in that direction...

We've got an RG8 here in the workshop, and want to drop in some Aftermaths- but the RG8 has active mount (yet, passive) p'ups.
Is there a way to mount BKP's without re-routing the guitar?

Thanks!

Dennis

I am unsure what you mean by active mount. Could you link a picture to the model so we can see what you mean?
Perhaps you mean those soapbar style PUs? Direct mounts?

Oh and welcome to the forum!

Thanks for the quick reply!
Heres a shot of what we've got here...

They LOOK like active p'ups, but they aren't...
So I want to say that I've seen people with the RG8 and some rings for installing BKP's... does this sound right?

Mhh cause I donīt know too much about these I canīt really tell if those are regular HB size or the soapbar type. If they are the later I am afraid you are out of luck as BKP does not manufacture 8 string soapbar HBs, they only recently introduced the 7 string version.
If those are regular 8 string HBs in their size but they are just direct mounted that is easier. I think I recall you would have to file down the mounting aids on the sides of the HBs then, but that it is possible.
Canīt think of a way rings would help there with those dimensions.

This is what I recall, so take that with a teaspoon of salt at least. There are people on here who can help you much more.

They are soapbar sized ones.

I guess you could email BKP and see if the 8 string soapbar size covers are on the horizon. If not this place does conversion rings and lots of custom work
