The Marshall SL-5 looks cool, but I'd be more interested if there was an option to buy it as a head rather than just a combo.  And I wish it had a 0.1w power setting like the limited edition 1w amps.

The Iommi amp also sounds pretty cool, but my God it's ugly.
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

I THINK there is a bigger head.......or it may be theyre making one

Just the AFD100. It has been stated many times by those in the know at Marshall that there will be no head version of the AFD5. You also might be thinking of the AFD18 from Phaez.

I personally like the combo, I think it makes it that much more flexible.

the SL-5 is almost exactly the amp you describe, except that for some reason they didn't give it an effects loop.  seems like a strangle omission to me, when they made it so well featured otherwise.  however, combine it with a Badcat unleash, and suddenly you have an amp that can go from 1 watt to 100 watts, plus a post power section effects loop :)  starts getting very expensive though.  it would mean you could bring the combo home with you for practice, and use the badcat to boost it up through your halfstack at practice.  just a thought.

really, if 1 watt is enough, and for home practice i think it is, the JVM-1 does seem to fit your bill.
cry HAVOC!! and let slip the pigs of war!!!

Indeed. Santiago Alvarez, the guy behind both amps, said they did not make a 100% copy of the AFD100. I think it's meant to not be so much of a Slash-based amp as the AFD. The clean channel is a copy of the JVM clean, and the dirty channel, while getting pretty Slash-y, is more of a regular 2203/2204 sound IMO. Just great all around Marshall tones.
