That's fine, I can live with tedious if in the end I can get the pickups working properly.

The only thing that I can see clearly from the picture is that the bridge, middle and neck were originally connected to pins #1, 2 & 3 respectively, so I have copied that. So the only thing I'm unsure about is the commons, (which from our previous tests seem to suggest #4 and #8) and the second pole.

So I will do those tests and get back to you.

Once again, thanks for your help.

I just had a quick check of the poles and it seems to be very odd, I can't quite work it out logically. I will post the results when I get a bit more time.

Just wondering if buying a new switch might not just be the easier option? If so, do you recommend any particular switch?

For the standard HSS wiring (= #1 full humbucker, #2 split HB + middle, #3 middle, #4 middle + neck, #5 neck) I like the Centralab 5 way switch, which is used in almost every Fender and other US guitar. That switch is also inexpensive and readily avialable from many sources.

If you want bridge + neck in #3 instead of the middle and still an easy wiring job, the Eyb Megaswitch type E is perfect. There should not be any problem fitting this into a Tele. It is a bit more expensive than the Centralab but still affordable.

For any fancy wiring nothing beats the 5 way 4 pole superswitch (very tight fit in a Tele if it fits at all) or the Eyb Megaswitch type M (slightly less tight fit in a Tele but still ... aargh).

Cheers Stephan

I think I will just go for a new switch, I'm fed up of this one. It doesn't make any sense.

Maybe there was a misunderstanding? I don't want bridge and neck in #3, that was the problem I was getting, I just want middle in #3.

So I'm gonna order a Centralab switch from Bare Knuckle and see if I can get that working.

Thanks

I think I understood you correctly. I just added it for the sake of completeness.

Thanks for your help Stephan.

The new switch works perfectly. So I have no idea what was wrong with the old one.

Thanks again.
