I haven't played D&D in about 20 years!  no one around here to play it with.  That's pretty cool, well done Ben

I played it exactly twice, in 1980.  I was a dwarf, naturally enough.

Quite enjoyed it at the time, but never really felt like getting into it again subsequently.  I did play a board game based on D&D last New Year's Eve, but didn't understand it at all.

Still and all, well done!  :)

Ha! Thanks anyway! :)

I wrote an small sliver of alternate rules that someone can insert into their game if they wish (or modify to suit their needs). It's like alternate downloadable content, but for a game you play round a table with people instead of a computer game ...

Cool.
Is that site related to Kobold Quarterly?
It wasn't a mistake, it was chromaticism, I swear.

Ah, So it is, I'd heard they'd shutdown.
I really liked that magazine, I usually run pathfinder myself but there's just so much good material in the older editions, good to see it's still being supported.

My main group is Pathfinder, but I also run B/X and Call of Cthulu.

If you are running Pathfinder, do you listen to the Know Direction and 3.5 Private Sanctuary podcasts?

I've listened to "Gamers guide to Pathfinder" on 3.5 Private Sanctuary which I really enjoyed. I also listen to Fear the Boot.
I'll give Known Direction a listen.

Nice work!

I've recently moved away from D&D, I DM'd 4th edition for a little while as nobody else seemed to want to, but my heart lies with 3.5 (especially as they used the 3.5 rules to write the first Neverwinter Nights PC game, which I was addicted to for well over 9 years!).

I used to enjoy DMing on my regular NWN server, but generally I don't enjoy DMing / GMing tabletop / PnP, as it takes a smarter person than I to really make it interesting and keep track of things.

I'm currently playing SLA Industries under the ever-patient eye of our GM with over 10 years experience in running the game, and I have to say, it's my new obsession. Having a great DM really helps! Leaves me free to just sit back, roll dice, and let my imagination run riot.

Great job on getting published! The D&D crowd are a critical and passionate lot, so it must be good! (I've not had the time to read it yet, but I will!)

Oh, don't know if you'd be interested, but my friend is steadily releasing his new tabletop dungeon crawl game. It's called Cavern Crawl:

Might be worth a gander if you're into your old school stuff. He's a huge Hero Quest / Advanced Hero Quest fanboy, so it's definitely in that kind of vein.

Your friend is very talented! I just got round to reading the rules. It's quite a mashup, but is very solidly based on skirmish wargaming; reminds me quite a bit of the original Chainmail and OD&D rules, but with a Heroquest slant and using d10 instead of d6. (the d10 is, in fact, a very recent invention)

Even the turn order in combat is straight out of OD&D: move, missle, magic, melee ...
