Which pickup would be best for...???
« on: May 28, 2013, 08:51:23 PM »
Hi guys! I am pleased to be a new member of this forum. Love the sound of Bare Knuckle Pickups so...
I would like to know which pickups would be suitable for a guitar with ash body with ebony cap, ebony fretboard and maple-wenge 5 piece neck. I Know it has brilliant sounding. I want deep sound for Drop B tuning (killswitch Engage and some Djent). Warpig? Aftermath? I'm having a custom guitar, but I could change woods, but I want to know which pickup with the wood configuration above.
Thank you

Kiichi

Hi and welcome!

For KSE tones the Miracle Man comes to mind. Full low mids, agressive hights but alwas retaining a smooth quality about it (compared to the very abrasive Nailbomb). Tight and just a great modern metal voicing. To be honest though I cannot say how it holds up with drop b. While I donīt think tighness is the issue there, I dunno how the voicing copes. Migth be great, but I cannot tell.
Also I am unclear how it holds up for djenty stuff.

BKPs in use: 10th set / RY set / Holy Diver b, Emerald n / Crawler bridge, Slowhand mid MQ neck/ Manhattan n
On the sidelines: Stockholm b / Suppermassive n, Mule n, AM set, IT mid

I would agree for KSE in general, good choice there, but do you think it can hold up in drop b (!) and for djent Eric?

I would say yes. With a tight amp and a OD808.

or any other sd-1/screamer type pedal
or just a graphic eq in front of the amp

there were a couple really good 7 string "djent" clips with the diver on the players section, but I couldn't find them

some of the clips I found are pretty good too
