BKP Cover woes...

I am really struggling here.  I picked up a used standard spaced BKP Holydiver on eBay that had originally had a cover on it, but had been long since removed.
Now, I want to put a regular old chrome cover on it to match the scheme of the guitar I am building for it.  The problem is that all of the "50mm" covers I have tried have been off on the pole spacing by just a small margin...just enough for them not to fit right. 

Where can I get a chrome cover that will actually fit right?  Thanks for any help!

Unfortunately "standard" humbucker spacing isn't very standard at all, as you've discovered.

Very simple answer - get a cover from BKP!  :D

You can send the pickup in to have it covered and potted, or if you don't want to do that I'm sure they'd sell you a cover on its own.  Just phone or email them.

I asked BKP about buying just covers but they dont sell them on their own. I'm thinking of having some covers fitted to my pickups. BKP quoted me £20 per pickup for fitting, wax potting and test them plus £8.50 postage,total £48.50,so I will probably  do that in the next couple of weeks.

Yeah, BKP won't sell me just the covers.  I can install and wax pot the covers myself, if I can find one that fits.
I'm in the USA, and from a time- and price-perspective, it's just not feasible for me to send my pickup to BKP for a cover.
It's not like I am looking for one of their specialty covers either, I just want plain old chrome.

It does appear that the spacing is very similar, if not spot on, with my Gibson 490R neck pickup.  Maybe a Gibson branded pickup cover or even an aftermarket pickup cover set to fit Gibson pickups will work.  Can anyone confirm or deny this?

I'm just guessing, to an extent, but I think a US-made cover (like a Gibson) is more likely to fit than a European/Asian made one.

I say that because I believe BKP have tried to be as close as possible to vintage Gibson specs, so using imperial measurements rather than metric ones.

Having said that, my theory slightly falls down because I know DiMarzio's spacing (for example) isn't exactly the same as Seymour Duncan's, and they're both US made.

Well, I ordered a Gibson spaced cover, and the seller has agreed to refund my money if it doesn't fit.  Will let you know.

Any word if a Gibson cover fit the regular spaced BKP? I too am curious, it is unfortunate you cannot buy BKP covers outright. Last set I ordered was a calibrated Abraxas with Zebra coils and nickel covers. I ended up removing them because I prefered the open coil look and tone. Bought a VH-II(B)/Mule(N) set second hand and threw the covers onto those, which was a nice option to have. Hopefully someone can chime in if Gibson covers are an option?

Many years ago, when I got my first set of BK's in 2004, I sent Tim an old 1960's set of Gibson covers for them.  They came with them fitted perfectly.  I don't know if anything's changed in between though.

Send to BKP to have it covered and potted.  It's not so expensive and it's done really well.  I had a cover swapped on a Rebel Yell neck and it looks great!
