stetsbar trem
« on: June 27, 2013, 06:54:21 PM »
Hi all, bought one of these tremolo set ups for my jaguar/ jazzcaster build. I started out with a fixed bridge, strat style but somehow got the positioning slightly off, this meant I could not move it the half a screw hole necessary to make it right. So I decided on a stetsbar trem but the type that fits a Gibson stop tail, as the OEM and strat type may have had screw holes too close to the  holes from the fixed bridge. I hadn't realized that on the stetsbar trem the bridge and tailpiece move together and as I had to site the trem on the body without a stop tail already being there as on a ready built guitar this meant I had to measure the scale length from the nut to where the bridge should be. Second mistake......... I should have adjusted the stop screws on the trem to where the bridge would be when the strings are tensioned. I drilled the holes pressed in the threaded inserts and then found the intonation was way off. Too far off to keep the trem where it was fixed. Fortunatley I have overcome this by drilling right through the body and using 6mm screws and inserts on the back of the body, as there wasn't the room for 8mm bolts and most definitely not the 1/2" threaded inserts. Has anyone here fitted one of these trems and did it fit with no issues.

Have now glued plugs in the first threaded insert holes and the holes on the back to cover the threaded inserts now being used.
