Well, so far this has been a nightmare! I don't have much in the way of spray gear, so I bought an electric gun on the recommendation of a salesgirl. And, man, didn't that suck. Even on the lowest setting it was like a fog machine for a stage production! Instant paint runs everywhere.
So I sanded that back.
Then I borrowed a small compressor from a friend. The problem was it was too small and ran out of air in seconds, then took a full 5 minutes to refill.
So that got sanded back.
Next, I found a decent compressor and gun. I had finished the primer coats and had done one coat of colour, when i had a small problem and wanted to patch it. So I went back to Home Depot and spoke to their paint expert:
"Will this fix the problem in my finish?"
"No, this is what you need."
"Ok. Will it work with water-based paints without wrecking my finish?"
"Oh, yeah, that's what it's made for!"
You can see below what this recommended repair stuff did to my finished headstock. Frikken git. I should go back to the shop and beat him with the CBS neck.
I returned a few things, demanded not only my money back but free paint stripper and free replacement paint for what I'd wasted.
