use a proper booster and you'll get the kick you want from any pickup
the vhii cleans up really really well
very articulate and glassy
just not as amazing as the mule, which sounds even glassier, more tridimensional and musical
the level of detail of the mule cleans is really impressive
both are very versatile pickups and both will do your intended styles
the vhII has more of a percussive articulation under gain, quite spanky, while the mule delivers a warmer response, which usually results in a chewy and organic tone on power chords with lots of gain, but still very clear
