found the best octave effect THING in the world on my zoom ps-04.... only people with a sound click account will be able to hear it though as it needs to be downloaded otherwise it speeds up in a weird way. heres the link anyway for anyone who want to listen to it fast forwared or anyone who has a soundclick account lol... the effects at the end are just stupid:

beginning is a bit messy its cause the effect is SO hard to control lol.

first riff= im broken- pantera
second riff= mine
third riff= im broken again but REALLY low
squiggly cr@p
fourth thing= first knocking on heavens door solo (REALLY high)

Damn, man. Turn down the recording levels a bit next time, that's clipping to buggery and back. :lol:

haha probably the reason it was screwing up.... you see 'clipping' means about as much to me as polytetrafluoethylene probably does to you...

will try that though- turning down the recording levels... to be honest couldnt care less abou that recording in particular but its good to know for future. in fact thats what was happening when recording our drummers electronic drum kit- the crash was going "SPLURGECJ" when he hit it- not good. thanks.

Basic rule with recording digitally is to lay stuff down as close to 0.0dB as possible, but make sure you never touch it or go over. Otherwise the signal is distorted (the bad kind) as the computer basically has to chop the audio off at 0.0dB (runs out of bits).

I've just knocked an example together for you from a guitar track I had lying around:

No Clipping (-0.8dB Peak)
Clipping (+5.3dB Peak)
