Pickups for a custom 6 string build

 Hello all! I'm highly considering using BKP's in my guitar that I'm getting built, and due to my previous purchases, I'm considering the Ceramic Nailbomb bridge and a Cold Sweat neck.

Would these pickups go well with the following woods, for metal (not djent..)? Bare in mind that it will be a 27 inch baritone.

African Mahogany Body + Spalted Maple Top
5 piece mahogany/wenge Neckthrough

and they would be Direct Mounted, with a Schaller Hannes bridge.

The style of metal I'd class as Machine Head albums Through the Ashes of Empires onwards.

This will be going through a Mesa Mark V > Mesa Rectifier 4x12

For the Machine Head sound I can see three pups work really well: Cbomb, Miracle Man and Blackhawk.

For a baritone I dunno how well the MM would fare as baritone adds highs and lows. The MM is in basic character something you might hear as scooped (mids are not missing though, just not the focus), so that might clash a bit. That is also why the middy Blackdog is one of THE baritone pubs.

The Cbomb and the Blackhawk both should deliver the sound character you want for those albums (god they are amazing). Canīt say too much on how they compare though.
Looking at the EQ charts on the website the BH might even be a tad better having more mids, but really that is all I have on that.

Oh yes, if Cbomb I would also go with the CS neck. If BH prob the set.

Thank you for the detailed reply :) I've never really considered the Blackhawks actually haha, do you know to any good demo's of them? All I can seem to find is people using them for djent haha.

If all else fails there's always the c-bomb and cold sweat :')

I have a baritone with a Miracle Man (27"). I like the sound, but it is very much "over the edge" in a way, screaming treble, massive low end, so I cannot flatout recommend it. It's kind of a thing that I like, and others might not.

I really want to try the Black Dog in my baritone, but I can't bring myself to take it out of my SG (partly lazyness, part that I don't want to waste a whole afternoon on it).

Can anyone comment on the cleans on the Blackhawk neck pickup?

I emailed Tim and he suggested the Ceramic Blackhawk bridge and a Blackhawk neck so :')

I have both and whilst I prefer the nailbomb personally id go for the black hawk bridge. Both do heavy metal extremely well but the black hawk does the more polished booming 'modern metal' sound better.  For what its worth id agree to go with the ceramic too.

I cant comment on the neck but if the bridge is any thing to go by it will be awesome for full on OTT shred metal leads.  I asked Tim how the black hawk neck sounded compared the the aftermath neck and he said the aftermath was thicker and darker and the black hawk was more open and clearer.

I gotta say i was wondering whether or not to replace my cold sweat neck with either the aftermath or black hawk even but I dont think I will.....the cold sweat is a good jack of all trades when it comes to rock and metal leads.

Thank you for your input :) I agree with the Cold Sweat being awesome in the neck, but I guess that would look weird with the blades of the Blackhawk, and the poles of the Cold Sweat.. haha

Might just go for the Blackhawk set
