Although home-made solutions are the cheapest and easiest to customise to your own needs, this little notice might well be worth taking note of:

I found the pedal board planner app quite helpful in terms of working out what would go where and how big etc.  Some of my pedals - quite common ones like an EHX Metal Muff and an ISP Decimator - are not included so I had to add others in their place of the same size and function, while others like the Maxon pedal just don't have my exact model (again, very common, the OD9). The best part of it is that you can put the pedals you want on it and if it gets too cramped (as it did with the PT Jnr) you can just change the model of board.  I don't know what reverb, compressor, or delay I will end up getting or if I need a 6-band EQ ahead of the amp in addition to the 10-band I just bought for the loop but here's one for the PT2.  I couldn't get the reverb and delay on to the smaller board. The main space hog of course is the wah.

Of course I haven't even thought of adding the Peavey footswitch panel to this board ...

I have a Pedaltrain PT1 for recording and a Pedaltrain Nano for rehearsals/gigs. Am currently using 1Spots for both, but will probably get the Pedaltrain power supply when it's out.

The configurations change a LOT, depending on what I'm trying to do, but typical kepers are:

AnalogMan SunFace
AnalogMan Beano Boost
Xotic BB Preamp
Fulltone Ultimate Octave
Hartman Tommy Bolin Fuzz
MXR Distortion+

Hey Lew, I built this one and it's now up for sale if you're interested? As you can in the pics, the Voodoo Labs power supply is underneath as is my Sennheiser G2 radio unit. It's a great solid board that comes fully flightcased. Let me know, here are the pics with it fully loaded... only the board and flightcase are for sale at the minute although some pedals will be going too!

Check your private messages :)

Trailer trash quoted me near enough as much as the board would cost in shipping so that's a no!

I asked my missus for a pedal board as my birthday present a couple of years ago and after doing a lot of research, she ended up getting me a Pedaltrain-1. As she's an engineer I trust her selection utterly and I've been really happy with the board though I've not had cause to use the case much.

At some point I might upgrade the power supply I currently have to something I can incorporate onto the underside of the board but for now this does me very well.

I did end up ordering a Pedaltrain PT-2 with the soft case from a dealer on ebay, together with the UKBT-1 universal brackets (which fit up to the PT-2, larger models have a different part number).  Total cost including combined shipping to Australia for the PT-2 & brackets together was $250 (Australian).  The postage can really be a killer.  Apparently to send the brackets alone the cost was $40 postage - but combined it was only $5 extra for the extra pound weight.

Here's another photo of those brackets showing a T-Rex power supply fitted and the power outlet.  The Voodoo Lab - and any with the power outlets facing the same way and the same size, such as the Decibel 11 - can be installed with the bracket that comes with the Pedaltrain and the chord inserts through one of those plugged holes in the back.

Also, if you get a power supply you need to keep in mind the mA power draw of each pedal.  The ISP Decimator G-String II draws 35mA at 9V, an MXR Kerry King 10-band EQ draws 25mA at 18V, etc.

Page with power draw of various pedals (not all)

Note also that if you have an outlet rated at 300mA at 9V and you can switch it to 18V that means it then only allows up to 150mA.  I guess this means that if it is 300mA at 9V and you switch to 12V on the same outlet it is then only 225mA (something that is not explained in the following video).

Spent some time setting up a Pedaltrain-2 today, hardest part was probably getting the wah set up with the rubber feet removed and the input switched to the left.

Plenty of room left to add a compressor, reverb, delay, and maybe a phaser or chorus.  The MXR 6-band is not fixed yet so it is not connected.  I put the hook velcro on the board and the loop stuff on the pedals.

The only pedal I am seriously considering getting rid of is the Metal Muff.  Might swap it for an MXR Fuzzface before the wah (with the Maxon afterward).  I like the quacky Hendrix effect

Sounds familiar: the hardest thing was mounting a wah for me too. I ended up keeping the feet on and slotting it between the slats of the Pedaltrain. I lost a bit of real estate but I didn't have to butcher anything.

Looks good, think I'll get one of those. You really get shafted on price in Oz don't ya? Aren't there any board companies there? How d'ya get round removing the crybaby feet and getting it to stay put?

I removed the feet and put some of those white plastic washers that you find in electronics shops under the screws and just put the feet aside.  That allowed me to tighten up the cover plate again.  Problem is though that the screws lift the wah away from the Pedaltrain just enough to make the grip of the velcro very tenuous.

I might try moving the pedal around but the issue is the routing of the cables between the Decimator G-String and the Crybaby.  I have the input and output on the left side as the guitar cable goes into the G-String pedal rather than into the wah.  Then it goes under the board to the tuner, and then from the output on the left side of the tuner back under to the input on the left side of the wah.  I need to get a longer patch cable to connect the ISP pedal to the wah, then maybe I can move everything slightly

It cost $250 (Australian) shipped with the optional universal power supply bracket kit as well from an ebay seller called Vision Guitar in the USA.

Note also that the photo I posted above of a T-Rex Fuel Tank Chameleon mounted it under  the right side of the board, directly under where my wah is. I didn't realize that until I started installing it today and realized I had the power supply in upside down (so that the cables to the pedals were a very tight fit with the board), so I looked at the photo again in realized that he has it on the other side of the board.  This means that my kettle cord does not go out the side of the board but rather out through the hole on the back of the board, although I have to lift the pedaltrain up to get it in rather than just pushing it straight in to the power supply through that hole as you would with a Voodoo Labs unit.  No big deal really, but worth noting.  I didn't want the power supply under the wah in case it created noise problems.

I took the big rubber pads off the the bottom of the ISP and Maxon pedals.  That was quite easy.  I then put velcro straight on the metal after I cleaned off any goo.  Also every 90 degree fitting on the power cables that came with the T-Rex had a funny little bump on the right-angle.  I sliced these off so that they would fit better between the power supply and the board.

Hi Andrew, following from your suggestion I basically moved things around a little bit.  I also managed to fit my Peavey 650+/6534+ footswitch on the board with enough room for a row of standard MXR height pedals with side power supply inputs and cable input/output above and below the footswitch.  The reason why I mounted the footswitch on the board is that I know from my friend with a 5150 II that this footswitch is the real 'Achilles heel' of his setup and that's probably because the connector at the back has been stepped on or wrenched around at some point.  SO I have made sure that it is protected.  Also by placing the 6-band EQ above the channel switches I can go straight from the channel switch to the EQ and a compressor (I'm pretty sure I will put an MXR Dyna Comp or Custom Comp on that top row) without having to worry about kicking knobs on pedals below it.  I took the two rubber feet off the bottom of the footswitch and add velco as seen in the photos below.

I have to get some more cables.  I'm using the straight-ended cable on the OD-9 just because the guitar lead will not go straight into the ISP now with the wah moved up, so I've put a cable with an angled end into the side of that pedal and fed the cable out under the right side of the pedal train.
