Apparently you can buy 5150s and 5150 mk2s in the USA for cheap second-hand.  They're not cheap here second hand though.  Worth looking into for a backup, even if it needs a set of valves or a cap somewhere.

yeah i dont think the lunchbox size amps would work well for me. the rest of my band plays very loud.

and the used 5150s i've seen are around $800+ which is too much

size-wise don`t confuse Dual Terror with those really micro small 'Tiny Terror' or 'Dark Terror'. Dual is much bigger and don`t let the size fool you, it is loud as hell (all valve 30W) and trust me will be enough for small gigs/rehearsal and with bigger venues (e.g outdoor) mic it up and run it through PA (you would have to do that with any other amp anyway).
you can run it with 2x12 or even 4x12.
I was playing smaller gigs with it without PA and it was plenty (and volume wasn`t at 11 )

but you decide  :D

IŽd go with the Jim Root Terror over that even. Seemed all around better when I played it. Also more versatile.

I believe so, yes.

Where the Dark Terror seemed like a bit of a one trick pony the Root seemed to do blues, rock and metal well and you could certainly get that Stone Sour sound too. Nicely tweakable too compared to the Tiny.

Yeah I remember reading it's based on the rockerverb. And apparently the new crush 120 head is also based on the rockerverb which is only $450

I've seen used 6505/+'s go for around the $500 mark quite a few times (don't ask how, since I'm in the UK).
There's always a second hand Laney IRT-120 as well.

I would look at (used) TH30 too. That drivechannel is based on the Rockerverb!
Mules, VHII, Crawler, MM's, IT's, BG50's.

I actually had a th30 before my mesa and the lack of a real eq section was a pain

Well, if you don`t like the lack of real eq section Dual Terror is not for you, for sure. You dial desired tone by turning only one knob.

When it comes to Jim Root head, I was watching some interview with him some time ago and he was praising the versatility of his signature model. On the other hand if anyone is familiar with Anderson music store (UK) and Rob Chapman, knows that he favorites and praises Dark Terror a lot and puts it even before Mesa Mini Rectifier. Apparently he has Dark Terror always in his rig.

looks like it became Orange-fan based thread

Yeah I know both videos that you're referring to.  I watched a lot of Orange gear videos. The dark terror is killer for tone but the mesa does have the Extra channel and more shiny knobs!  Haha.  I would love a dark terror combo amp too

Depends on the music you play, I would get a Bugera as they sound really good and make good testing amps and backups. My 6260 sounds MEAN.
