G-System

I set my eye on the TC Eletronic G-System. Many good effects in there, four loops to insert (drive)pedals, and the possibility to switch your ampchannels.
Any users here that can chime in on pro's and con's?

well, I'm a pedal nut, i do not like multi-effects at all.. that being said, if i was going to go for a multi effect unit, it would be the g system or nova system. I was very suprised by how good the nova system was when i tried it, and the G system by all accounts is the big brother.

on the caveat that i'd only use them for time based effects. would still keep separate drive and wahs

I like the idea that you can assign your loop (wit a drivepedal in it) to a preset. But I'm playing analog now, so I have some cold water fear. The G-System is quite complex.

Why not the Nova then? it takes the essentials of the Gsystem, makes it simpler and cheaper

Yeah, I will have a look at one too. I was just torn by the G-system after watching Soundgardens Peter Thorn's vid.

I had a G-system for a while and it is a superb unit. The switching options are great. I sold mine because it was too complicated (for me) and I couldn't be arsed getting to know it well enough to use it  to anything like it's true potential. If you're a manual reading nerd. It's frighteningly good.

Yeah, I like the switching and loop-options. I'm an analog guy and it would be my first digital system. Still have doubts if it is not too complicated. I'm also not convinced of the drive and distortion in the Nova System. They sound a bit sterile.

The G system doesn't have any overdrives or distortions. I completely bypassed the first AD/DA stage, which includes the compressor and some other effects as it introduced  noticeable latency. Although I think the newer units have this sorted. When I had it set up right, it was changing channel on my amp and bringing in external loops, but I'd set it up at a gig having not played for a month and have forgotten how to work it. Maybe I'm just getting old though ;)
