MXR Distortion+ script reissue

I have one of these.

No idea why, but this one particular shop seems to have bought up all the stock of these and is selling them cheap (I got mine for around $80, via their ebay shop).  I would have thought that they would rachet up the price if there was no competition.  Anyway, there's nothing weird about the one I received, so if you are in the market for one of these don't bother hunting down the original for $300 or whatever, this reissue is a great bargain.

I find it doesn't play that well through my Peavey 6534+, but it is fine with something lower in gain

I got it because it was the closest approximation to the Coron used by Mob 47 through a daggy solid state amp.  When I have my Bandit fixed I will try it on that

I love the way he talks about the Boss Heavy Metal pedal as if it's some new-fangled thing.

Of course this old Distortion+ is also the model Randy Rhoads uses.

Theyve just re released the DOD 250 too which I always fancied too. The distortion+ and the dod 250  are supposed to be very very similar.

Ive just bought a 5150 iii and it arrives tuesday so I might need to re evaluate what I use for overdrive (Hopefully nothing) but as its got 3 channels and a switchable fx loop though it more functional that my current rockerverb.

I have a Maxon OD-9 which sounds good but I don't like the switch that much.  On reflection I might  have been better off with the OD-808 just for the better feeling switch.

I've ordered an MXR Custom Badass Modified O.D.

Watching the videos mainly pay attention to the EQ aspects. It is pretty much standard practice to roll the gain right off when playing through Peaveys and that's what I've found works best for me too.

Hopefully it works well with my 6534+ - I'll report back on it when I've had a chance to try it.  It seems like it should be able to do everything the two Maxon pedals can do and then some, but it's hard to assess it on the basis of reviews on the internet.  It seems very similar to the Green Rhino but in a more board-friendly format.

I also purchased some more of those little rubber covers for the knobs for all of my MXR pedals besides the Black Label Chorus (which has very small metal knobs) so that I can adjust them all with my toes.
