Hi guys,

I use a Chapman guitars ML3-RC (Picture attached) it is a Tele style body but it's a mahogany body, mahogany neck and rosewood board with a set neck. It comes with seymour duncan single coil sized humbuckers in both positions and they are coil tappable, I love the sound at the neck but the bridge doesn't quite do it for me. I am getting a new bridge fitted that accommodates a full sized humbucker and I am sure on a bareknuckle just not sure on which of the contemporary range to go for. I play everything from coil tapped cleans, bluesy low to mid gain break up, really upper mid rangy tight modern metal and all variety of lead sounds. I am looking for something versatile that can handle all of those styles convincingly and also give a slightly more open sound to a quite dark sounding guitar.

Any tips and advice are appreciated.
Cheers
Sam

Rebel Yell without a second thought. Slightly vintage in character with a modern voicing, very reactive to pick attack and the volume and tone pots + tight lows and focus in the high mids.

Can go from this:

Everything you hear in these clips is done with the RY.

Hope that helps, cheers

Played a gig last night with my Firebird Studio (all mahogany, rosewood board) fitted with a pair of RYs. I go through a Cornford Roadhouse which has a Marshall character to it. When I gig with this set-up I don't want to stop playing. A match made in heaven. As much punching drive as you want and cleans up great with the guitar volume. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Sounds good man thanks, my only concern with the rebel yells is if they'll do the modern metal thing well, I'm avoid that word but 'Djenty' ahaha

Rebel Yell! I put one in my all mahogany set neck SG and it does exactly what you describe. I'm not sure about djent though, the sound is very tight but the key players are the upper mids and highs. But I'm sure you can work that out with your other gear. I'm not sure any other pickup will do as many things as you are describing, except the C-bomb maybe, as that was also recommended to me by Ben.

If you don't fancy the Rebel Yell, you might want to consider the Nailbomb as an alternative. The A-Bomb is usually suggested by BKP for great versatility and although its mids are a little lower than the Rebel Yell, I certainly never found it lacking in upper mids. Try looking at these Sam Coulson clips, all done with an A-Bomb set:

BKP owned:

Bridge - Emerald; Cold Sweat; Crawler; A-Bomb; Holydiver; Miracle Man; Sinner; Trilogy Suite

Neck - Emerald; Cold Sweat; Crawler; Holydiver; Sinner; Trilogy Suite

ABombs do work fine for me in my dark SG, and they have incredibly tight lows for Alnico pickups, now as other members already mentioned they are more about center/low mids where the (slightly less hot IIRC) RYs have more of that upper-mid bite - not that the Abombs have any problem cutting thru a dense mix, don't get me wrong. But anyway: your post looks mostly like a description of the RYs so that would my first call, with the ABombs as a second choice if you finally want more of that throaty low-mids ROAR (while still getting enough upper-mids aggression to cut thru).
Have: Crawlers, BGF 50/52s, Mules, ABomb, RiffRaff
Had : Slowhands (n&m), Trilogy (b)
