NAD!
« on: November 24, 2013, 09:36:30 AM »
So i've scored myself a Laney VC50! I've been trying to sell my rack set up for a little while and last weekend i sold my GSP1101. With the cash I managed to win an ebay auction for the Laney for £175. Awesome price i'd say. It's a bit tatty but it sounds great. Unfortunately, living in a one bed apartment means i can't crank it without pissing people off but even at low volumes it sounds pretty decent.

I've owned a VC50 before but it didn't sound that great even after changing speakers and valves, something just wasn't right with that one but this one is cool.

I forgot how much I missed clean tones from an all valve amp.

Nice one, congrats! At that price that´s a steal. Clean tones from proper valve amps...there is just something about them, that sparkle or whatever it is. Lovely.

Nice, it's the combo of the vh100r, isn't it? I've only tried the vh100r (and i have the gh50L which is the Vh100R's dirty channel, I think) but it was pretty sweet. £175 sounds like a pretty good price. :D

Nice buy. I got my VC30 from Ebay for £165.00 and it has been my gig amp for over 5 years with very few minor problems.

Congrats. I'd happily add a Laney VC or Lionheart to my amps collection but they are way more expansive this side of the channel - the best offer I've seen so far was 250€ (about 208£) for a very beaten VC15/110 in a dire need of a retube and possibly more :-/
Have: Crawlers, BGF 50/52s, Mules, ABomb, RiffRaff
Had : Slowhands (n&m), Trilogy (b)

Having re read my comment ( and I'm not having a good day today clearly). I meant that I have not had many problems and that the ones I have had, were of a minor nature and to be expected-i.e. valve changes.

I've had two VC50s. Loved the first one but it was very noisy on the high gain channel. Sold it and got another amp that I didn't gel with so got another VC50. The second one was even better sounding and REALLY quiet even with gain and volume cranked. I eventually let it go when I got my Roadhouse as I decided that 30 watts suits me better than 50 and I also have a VC30. Couldn't justify having three amps and my hall was getting very crowded. Still think about it sometimes.
