ok, just some horsing around to get an impression of the sound.
first 55 seconds are the Burny with BKP Nailbomb set, the rest is the gibson with the SD distortions.

recorded wih line6 guitarport and audacity,

settings: 1990 Brit J-800, drive 6, bass 6 ,middle 5, trebble 7, presence 4 and volume 7. nofx

dont mind the playing mistakes.. im a sloppy guy ;-)

The SD does sound a bit muddier, doesn't it? You can also hear the wider tonal frequency of the BKP.

Nice idea, comparing them head to head!

yesterday i played them both with the koch amp...
the difference is not that big, but the BKP seem to sing more.
so the next step is, put the sd's in the burny and the BKP's in the gibson..

lots of soldering to go ;-(
but hee, we only want the best ;-)

no i have to work on my playing, cant blame the guitar anymore  :D

Welcome to a tonal world without mud!!

You can really hear the extra clarity over the Duncans IMHO, listen to the pick attack and low end - great!

Hey, your playing's not bad!!

Nice one showing both clips of the different pickups, to my ears the BKP's are much warmer and have more definition where as the SD's sound fizzy and sterile. Steve

Great A/B demo-I won't say anymore because I'm biased  but I think it expresses the difference between handwound and massproduced p/ups quite clearly.

Nice A/B. I wouldn't say the SD's sound bad but they do seem to choke a little where the BKP's, although dark, sound more transparent.

No Tom its probably computer speakers- mine dont do the clip justice though the BK's sounded better when I used my cans. That was useful Phil.

yeah the BK's give lots more mid, so single notes (solo's) stand out more..
that was my problem with the Sd's great rithm tone, but solo's where not standing out.
now ive got the best of both worlds ;-)
