BBE Stomp Sonic Maxmizer

BBE Stomp Sonic Maxmizer - secret weapon, total must-have in every rig or just another stomp box made to rise some amount of cash in the company`s pocket?
Has anyone used it? Any opinion?

Recently while going on youtube through some more or less useful gear I found something what really grabbed my attentnion. BBE Stomp Sonic Maxmizer (small brother ot it`s rig version). Apparently rectifies speaker phase distortion, allows to achieve greater clarity and presence in the mix, and boost lows and highs without mud or harshness. That`s a theory. In most videos it seems to adjust only lows/highs but I suppose it`s due to youtube compression or something. What`s more while engaged it does work brilliantly with modulation effects as well enhancing details and making them more 'musical'.

What are your opinions about that product? If it does what it says it seems to be a secret weapon in every rig.

Sounds pretty cool at home (even though your sound without it is still 10x better) and live it destroys your mids. Not recommended, maybe good for brightening dark neck pickups on the clean channel but thats it.

I haven't used the Stomp version, but do have an older rack mounted version that I got in trade for a Morley wah pedal.

It's yet to make it into my gig rack, but I have used it at home and rehearsals a few times. I *think* I know how they achieve what they do, and can hear it changing the tone but what I'm yet to decide is whether I actually like it or not

I looked into it some time back, decided that it was a glorified eq. Im happy with my MXR 10 band

I use one live. Mine tends to be on all the time-certainly for clean sounds- not quite so much for dirtier sounds. The former sound "rounder"  and the latter a bit grittier-not sure how else to explain. It is a very subtle effect and to me, more pleasing when on and worthwhile. I haven't noticed and loss of mids as reported earlier in the thread by Effigyforgotten. Overall I like the effect that it produces.

Stallone has been reborn....

not a fan personally of sonic maximisation, even for live playing, I find my guitar sounds perfect without it, then when I did try adding it, the tone was too cheezy and perfect. Try it but I just didn't like how it changed my tone.

what do you mean by too cheezy and too perfect? Did you try it only with the amp or put it at the end of the chain with other stomp boxes as well?
