IME shipping to and from the US is one of the slowest routes, it can take weeks. I assume it's customs at both ends for some reason. Shipping to and from Canada is one of the fastest at usually a few days.

It's the slow postal service.  Unless you pay extra for priority they can leave it sitting in a sorting facility for a week or more before sending it on.  It's basically a way of extorting an extra $20 out of you by providing shitety service. The priority service from the USA to Australia is about as fast as the regular air mail from the UK to Australia ...

The way I have experienced the BKP service is that as long as you are friendly and respectful they are ok with everything.
