Yes, the Jugg has weak high mids. My swamp ash is a bright wood but have lows and lack of mids. This team creates a little lifeless, dark and scooped sound. At first I was happy about the great lows but after some hours of playing I missed the high mids. I think a lot about the Black Hawk and C-Bomb. Somebody compared them?

From what I've heard from the audio clips / descriptions on the website, this sounds like a job for the high mid monster aka the Painkiller!!

The trick to finding a pickup that works, I think, is to find one with an EQ curve that is the inverse of the guitar it is put in.

I would also be very interested in the outcome since I have a dark sounding strat as well. I had a Holydiver in it and currently a Miracle Man. It sounded good with both but still very dark with either.

The Juggernaut isn't brighter than the Miracle Man, so if you're looking to brighten up the guitar, you'll need to look elsewhere.

Did you play them in the same guitar? From what I read so far i believed the Juggernaut to be a bolder and higher output Holydiver. I was quite surprised to now read that it should work in a dark guitar.

Probably Cold Sweat or Rebel Yell would be the ticket to brighten up dark guitars.

Cheers Stephan

Not sure, you might have misread? I'm comparing the MM and the Juggernaut here, not the HD and the Juggernaut.

The MM has a more aggressive top end response. Maybe the resonance frequency of the Juggernaut is higher, but the treble response on the MM is stronger and more hard-egded. Yes, same guitar.

I sure hope it will match with the chrome hardware.
Anyway, I'm sure you'll like it ! I'm not sure I could call that pickup "bright". But the lows are certainly ultra tight !
However, I didn't think it lacked hi-mids. My amp is pretty middy though (Mesa Boogie heh).

At the end of my review, you can find a clip of the my guitar straight into my amp - a Mesa Boogie DC-5. There's a bit of post eq-ing. Other than that, full valve tone my friend ! But in Drop C.

I did understand that you compared the Miracle Man to the Juggernaut. I only quoted a comparison between HD and Juggernaut I read somewhere else, and I had the HD and MiM in the same guitar and found them to be similar there. And thanks for providing the additional information, that clarified it for me.

Cheers Stephan

STILL waiting on my juggernaut to arrive. according to the shipping info, its been stuck in New york since Feb 2nd and its not the first time this has happened either. it is seriously the biggest downfall for me when it comes to bare knuckle. i wish they offered some sort of expedited shipping for the US. i'd GLADLY pay extra to get it in less than a week. let alone 2 weeks.

well she's finally here almost a month later. >_> anyway.. i decided to try it out in my new les paul first because i'm trying to get some ideas of what i want in the LP and to be honest, i may just keep it in there instead of putting it in the strat i intended it for. it sounds monstrous. granted, it has the wide spacing but it plays great and suits this lp quite well. that, and i'm really sick of waiting 2+ weeks for pickups to arrive.

i know a lot of you had curiousities about this pickup since most reviews and demos show it in the djent style. so does anyone have anything that they'd like to see me do with it? certain styles, certain tunings, etc.  i've only played it in Eb standard so far but like i said it sounds great.

Cold Sweat Lizzy tune also.

Then i can compare it to the Cold Sweat pickups.

Now i have an idea. The tune 'Holy Diver', Dio, Judas Priests 'Painkiller' and some Van Halen, so we do a comparison to the actual pickups  :P
BKP: Abraxas - Les Paul
Holy Diver - Charvel
Mule - Les Paul
Rebel Yell - Les Paul
VHII - PRS CU22
Emerald - Les Paul
Warpig - Caparison Horus
