My suggestion would be to go for a Framus Cobra. I got one a while ago and absolutely fell in love with it; it's a monster!

Here's the first useful review I've seen in English of the Peavey 6534+

I have one and I think it might do what you want. It is certainly tighter than the 6505 (not flubby) and has more mids, although it still has that classic Peavey pre-amp fizz issue.

My amp sounds pretty similar through my (now broken in) Orange PPC412 V30 cab, but I'm not a fan of the styles of stuff he plays.  I use mine mainly for '80s hardcore, thrash metal, crust punk, that sort of thing.
