What's the problem? I've already said Chumbawumbas old guitarist is playing and if you're really lucky you can meet ... THE MONKEY LORD?

If I decide to go say hi. I'll be the shortish, fat bloke with a beard dragging a bored looking wife around. OK that's not going to help mark me out of the crowd . I shall wear a Daemoness T-shirt.

If I go (which I won't) I'll be the short (not-ish, just short) skinny bloke with a goatee.  And no wife.  And I'll wear a Blood Ceremony T-shirt.

Yeah, I went on the Sunday.

It was smaller than I remember. It only took us an hour to have a good look round twice.

Buy anything?

Nah I didn't buy anything. I was hoping for a sort of NAMM-esque kind of thing. People chatting about the things they make. I mean... there was a bit of that but generally it just seemed like the bigger folks selling direct to people. And the stands being staffed by sales guys rather than any engineers at all. Blackstar were selling combos effectively. Orange stand was full of kids playing Tiny Terrors. I spoke to the guys promoting Vigier Guitars. The Fender Booth seemed overly self important. Nobody was looking at any Marshall amps. They had one of the biggest stands and it looked empty all the time. I hoped to see the mythical Vonhatski amps but they weren't there so I'm 50/50 on whether they've already gone out of business. Guitars didn't seem much cheaper than anywhere else. I played the Davis Amplification amp. Had a curry and left.

I tried that Davis amp too, what you think?

I made a purchase but haven't bothered with a NGD thread yet.

woohoo. got my internet back.
I played it. I didn't mess with any dials. Some gainiac's had maxed out the drive one the OD channel. It was alright. It didn't blow my mind. I was a little surprised to see some 'out of chassis' wiring in the headshell, I think the primary leads for the OT were across the outside of the chassis. The dude was a pleasant chap but didn't give anything away about the circuit. It has a single valve rectifier in it as well I think. So at high volume I imagine it would sag and compress a bit. I wasn't sold on the styling.

I really liked the cleans on it, but it's OD channel was very bland and fuzzy sounding. Whether that was because it was at low volume levels or not I'm not sure.

I really wasn't blown away for a £3k amp though

When I played it the gain was dimed, most amps sounds fizzy like that. Low volumes won't help. Silly of me not to have a tweak but I felt on the spot enough just jammin through it. I didn't know it was a £3K amp. I'd like to know a lot more about what was going on with it for that money. Where the transformers come from, all kinds of stuff. The dude said it was ALL british made... even made it sound like the resistors and stuff would be british made... but nothing specific about where anything comes from. I'd also like to see how well it's put together.

To be fair nobody else was showing off their amp guts. Too SHOOK probably! Weak.
