Thoughts on Fender Custom Shop Fat 50's & alternatives
« on: March 03, 2014, 02:49:08 PM »
I just picked up a new 2012 US standard strat with these fitted as stock.

I had been after a new strat for a while (i modded my last one to death) and this one was a real stand-out the first time I tried it as i had been trying them out in shops off and on for months as i travel around.

Soundwise i am very impressed indeed by the Fat 50's.  They are chimey and take gain really well. They also do not have any brittle top end which i was wanting to avoid.

While i don't feel a need to change them right now, i am keen to know if anyone has swapped the Fat 50's out in a Standard Strat for Vintage or vintage hot BKPs and their impressions?
Got a few guitars - old to new and Boogie kit.
BKPS: Rebel Yell, Holydiver

Love old valve amps... But then I am biased!
