I was thinking of maybe a Floyd rather than a Kahler, should be OK since there's a solid centre block; just a bit concerned that with the thick neck the screws for the locking nut won't go all the way through.... having said that though, I might get the neck shaved to an Ibanez Wizard profile....

You really had me there... I was thinking "WOT??!?!?!"... right up until the "neck shaved" bit at the end... then normal service resumed.

I believe our American cousins would say 'sweet Paul bro'.

I do like the burst, not too garish, nice and tasteful

Yep, it is a very pretty looking beast - pretty much the looks I'd want if I was going for one.

Tell you what, to save it getting damaged, I'll look after it for you while you're sorting out all those unfinished projects :D

that's a nice looking Les Paul, Philly, congratulations.  I've heard the pickups Gibson are using on the reissues these days are pretty good too.

I probably would have bought it regardless of the colour or flameyness of the maple, but as it happens I prefer the plain(ish) tops on the '58s.  This one officially has a "lightly figured" top, not too blingy.

I've had a reply from Gibson Customer Service confirming the colour is Bourbon Burst.  Quite pleased with that, based on the many pictures I've examined it was my favourite of the six available 2012 colours.  And I like the name!  :D

Blue, I haven't tried it through a proper amp yet, but I think the pickups are Burstbuckers (can't remember the specific models), the same as my R4 and I quite like those.  Nearly all my Gibson guitars have stock pickups at the moment, but I may experiment a bit at some point.  Or I may just lend it to Andy to "break it in" for me, Keith Richards style....

BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

Because of the biscuits or the drink?

That does look really rather tasty. I keep saying "one day" about a Les Paul. This is a nice one that does make me think "one day". That weight is great too, a little lighter than my Baja.
I think I hate being indecisive.

I don't really like the drink.  I love the biscuits, but I can't eat them any more.

I guess I just like the name - it's better than Washed Cherry Burst or Sunset Tea Burst.
