Holy Diver in a Les Paul?

I have a spare HD set here that i was going to put in a Charvel Super Strat, but i have a Edwards Les Paul Standard on the way with Seymour SH4 and SH1. I know that i won't like the SH4 in there, as i had that messy combo before.

So, would the lack of bass in the HD balance out nicely in a Les Paul?

Has anyone tried this combo?

When your Les Paul has not a dark tone, I would just give it a try. The HD is not bassheavy, so that should match a mahogany setneck guitar.

it does sound good in dark les pauls as well, as long as they are resonant enough

Yeh, i have the Holy Diver in a Charvel also and a Ibanez J Custom RG, so the are perfect in those.

The LP will be a Edwards Les Paul Standard, which is one of the most resonant LP's around, so it might work nicely in there.
I also have a set of Rebel Yell's in a Greco LP Custom which i might try in there also.

Obviously the Seymour JB will have to go

Hello darrenw5094, I really love the tone & response of the Holy Divers, originally I had Seymour Duncan Distortion set
(Mayhem) and they were really good, but as always I'm never sure, although I've had MANY different brands of pickups,
I even tried the Duncan JB/59 combination. Overall I like the tone of the JB, but the push of the Distortion. After I played
through the HD's, there was no question the Holy Divers are "IT" there amazing, I test the pups by playing in my home studio,
Live then recording, absolutely kills!

In a Les Paul type guitar would be cool! I'm so appreciative to my son who has been wanting me to try BKP, he's been using them for years (Miracle Man, War Pig, Trilogy Suite, Slow Hand, Holy Divers both Alnico V & Ceramic) I was still using my Anderson's and Suhr guitars which sound great but the rawness of the Charvel USA just Rocks. My son's TK Instrument bellow sounds wonderful,

Sounds really good. It got a lot of bite but isn't really trebly. Very smooth with the neck pickup.

I think they really bring out the warmth nicely. The neck split is a treat, quite jazzy tones. The bridge pickup is quite hot and works well for rock/metal. It's will not get you the bite that a superstrat will give you are a EMG set in a Les Paul. But I think the HDs suit a Les Paul really well.

You will probably need long pickup legs at the bridge slot to get sufficient upwards adjustment.  I don't know how high HDs generally need to be set though (RYs apparently it is quite high).  The 50mm vs 53mm spacing is not crucial.

Yep, i like the HD alot in the Charvel, so it could work in the Edwards Les Paul.

The HD will be the first try in the Edwards then, should arrive in a week or so.

The JB was in my Gibson Les Paul Standard and i never liked it. Can't believe i kept it in for years.

Long legs are less of an issue than on a flat top Gibson such as an SG or Explorer, but you might still find that you need them

They are only an issue at the bridge slot, due to the neck angle.  Short legs are fine at the neck.  Actually I wish short leg neck and long leg bridge was an option for a set, as long legs on a neck pickup can be more of a hindrance than a help.
