Its not a strat its a custom made guitar with one volume and one tone no scratch plate!I I wonder if a tube screamer will give of the tightness I'm looking for?

Should certainly help. It tightens up the bottom end, drives the amp, and adds some mids, which is often nice for SCs in this application. A Digitech Bad Monkey for example can be had for very little money and delivers a lot for it. Worth a try IŽd say.
BKPs in use: 10th set / RY set / Holy Diver b, Emerald n / Crawler bridge, Slowhand mid MQ neck/ Manhattan n
On the sidelines: Stockholm b / Suppermassive n, Mule n, AM set, IT mid

If you really want to tighten and fatten up your strat, this is a very good one. I own one. Turns your single channel amp into a three channelamp. Loads of gain on tap. Roars and shreds (if necessary).

Even a sinner doesn't have an overly loose low end. Strats with "normal" single coils aren't known to be boomy.

But I agree, strats can sound weirdly splatty under gain, because of the very strong treble and attack, without much mid range.

You might find an EQ pedal will allow you to shape the response as you like and give you a load of boost too.

Telerocker: I'll check out that pedal!

Would compression and eq make much of a difference?

I like to use the middle for clean rhythm as it substitutes for when an acoustic tone Is needed.

Neck works well for cleans and smooth leads.

Bridge for cutting leads or chugging crunch rhythm work.

Neck and middle for power chords

Bridge and neck for distorted palm mutes

I might just whack a sinner with a baseplate on the bridge. Instant beef!
