Abraxas - put through the wringer
« on: January 25, 2015, 08:33:57 AM »
I just can't get enough of this pickup - this is all Abraxas bridge - some tones split, some full humbucking mode..

PS...gotta love lady troubles and life changes for the inspiration.

I know I'm supposed to be listening to the pickups but I do love the track-I could hear so much in that, making up my own bass lines etc and the theme towards the end was lovely. Oh and the pickups sound terrific. They haven't previously come into my thoughts but by that showing, they perhaps should.

Thank you so much for your words.  It is indeed missing bass and an extended bridge and solo, but my fingers were roasted from a two hour acoustic set. I'm thinking that I should leave it like it is, add the bass, remix and master, and call it a day.

You have my favorite single coils listed in your signature. I love the apaches like I love the 63 veneers!  Tasty!  Thanks again for your time.

This track is absolutely amazing! Thanks a lot for your hard and great job, there`s not much of Abraxas here, and gradually you`re becoming Abraxas` ambassador here!
I`ve been listening to all your Abraxas clips and have to admit that this pickup is truly underestimated and sounds amazing!
Keep it up!
cant wait for your next tracks! Mostly on Youtube you can spot boring BKP clips with guys
1) who can`t play or play sloppily
2) who record on some stupid mobile phone
3) guys who have no idea how to demonstrate pickup and wa*k off on the guitar playing 100000 unnecessary notes.

listening to your stuff is really enjoyable!

ps. what guitar and pickups were used in 'Dirt Road' track? Love that song.
cheers!

Lucas,

Thank you man!  You can thank my idiotic life decisions for the majority of the inspiration behind my music haha.

Dirt Road is a blend of Abraxas on some tracks and 63 Veneer. The 63 and Apache are astounding pickups!  I use a Warmoth tele for the majority of my songs - that one included. Mahogany body - light weight- and a one piece maple neck.

What do you mean by blend of Abraxas and 63 veneer? What about main rhythm guitar? is it Abraxas?
and the first solo I presume is single coil.

I mean it, your tracks are amazing! I`m really enjoying listening to your music and once I see something new I immediately dig into it! Great, great job man!

'They Fell to Earth' is one of my favorite ones as well.

Oh - the solo is abraxas - for dirt road. Some of the verse tracks are neck veneer panned and blended with those parts played with abraxas in humbucking mode.

Man, they fell to earth was a bear to mix. There's a lot going on in that one haha.

I hope to have some new tracks up soon.

and in 'Dirt road' the main riff is Abraxas then. Sounds great, kind of woody and 'hollow' but in a good way. Hard to describe.

If I may ask, how do you record your tracks, your guitars? What programs/equipment do you use? Do you do it in the studio or at home? Just being curious, because the overall outcome is amazing and kicks as*!

how heavy can Abraxas bridge go? I would love to hear some heavier stuff as well, I know you have fulfilled that territory in one of your songs as well, but just wondering about different approach and more heavier stuff.

Dude very heavy. Even in standard e. Listen to the burning hill on my soundcloud.  You might be referring to that one, but that's about as heavy as I typically go.

By the way, as I checked most of your music, I missed one. A real gem!

'Deep Field', whoooaa! I want this song on my Ipod to start my day as I go to work or whatever. That would pump me up with some really good vibe! Love it! Shame that it`s so short, it screams for some extended solo at he end. Love this one big time! it still plays in my head....

That's the second song I ever wrote or recorded! It's still quite rough, but I can't bring myself to touch it. I wrote it after learning that a friend of mine passed away out of the blue.

Thanks for posting fdesalvo! Great song writing and even better tone! I am really digging the abraxas in youre tunes. I was on the fence about it and just bought a Holy Diver set for my LP Double Cutaway pro. But I am going to buy the abraxas set for my ES339. It has the range I am after and the cleans sound so good. I love the organic openness when it is put through higher gain. Great work and thanks a ton! There are not enough recordings and posts that do the abraxas justice.

I forgot to answer you - I use Logic X and a variety of tube amps and plugins like Amplitube 3.  I record from my condo and my neighbors love me.
