Couldn't agree more-we're back to the effect of timber in the tone equation here and tight vs open grain.

I just put a set of Miracle Men in a mahogany explorer and they do sound a bit lighter than in Tim's Les Paul.  Of course I also heard his Les Paul through his Zakk Wylde Marshall, which will be different to my Silver Jubilee   :good:

Overall though the tone is incredible, and this is in a Richwood explorer that I picked up on e-bay for 110 quid!  It is a set neck guitar, and it really sounds amazing with the Miracle Men.  The neck is the Alnico V version, and this gets incredibly blusey when you back it off slightly.  Also the clean tone from these is really great,  bright from the ceramic and just fat and warm from the Alnico.

I would go with a calibrated set of these   PDT_042
So many pickups, so little time

I think the difference would be:
Nailbomb: wide, big sound
Warpig: tight, punchy bass

and how you compare the mule to this other two?
Q:)

From what I have learnt here. The Mule is based on the vintage Gibson PAF. Not really what I would choose for thrash. I'm not the expert here though

I love loads of styles. Anything with a good guitar sound in really. I do like thrash from the 80's. Anthrax were my favorites! Saw them 3 times and Metallica once.
Also Van Halen. Saw them once. Man it was brilliant!
Black Label Society, saw them 2 weeks ago in London. They are incredible!
Also led zepp, cream, hendrix all that classic stuff really oh and The Who musn't forget them! Saw them once in 1989 with Kenny Jones on the drums.
Oh and The Sex Pistols! It's really how it all started for me. I saw them 3 years ago and I loved it!!!
Check out this interveiw with Steve Jones http://www.cookandjones.co.uk/steve_interview2002.htm

It's very funny (well it is to me  )

Are you a thrash/death man through and through? Sepultura inspired?

Yah man, i liked your influencies.
i have different musical approaches  that influences me different
i have a huge blackmetal melodic influence, a lot of death and thrash way of playing, and some personal way of attack strings in palm mute situations. not like ONLY Downstrokes. i attack the strings down and up strokes with the same or more speed.
i want to post some clips here in teh forum, but they are not BK pickups, SD ones and i´m not sure people here will appreciate
Q:(
I can send you the clips.

Johnny's right. The Mule is a classic PAF style pickup.

I'd go for a Miracle Man or Warpig for thrash, death and other kinds of metal.

If you do alot of speed riffing and soloing, the Miracle Man would be the better choise, i think. The ceramic magnet will cut more.
