When I run my Boss Delay into the loop of the Engl Powerball, the delay repeats seem to be coloured by a murky distortion. Any ideas? My Peavey 5150 MK2 works fine using the same setup. Any ideas anyone?

I think the general rule is to have delays infront of the amp. Try what Andy said.

I've always found delay a bit useless upfront. I'm looking to run a stereo setup which will need the loop.

I would then advise you into getting something like a G Major, you can adjust the delayed sounds alot more.

I know its not the ideal solution, but it maybe the only way to make it work.

Actually, delay is supposed to go in the loop, as with all time based effects.

It could be the lead or pedal, it may even be the amp but I doubt it.

Nah, leads are fine, so too is the pedal, as I run in the same way in my 2nd setup. It's like the pedal signal is too hot causing distortion. The Powerball has an fx mix dial, but wherever you turn it, it's the same.

That's interesting. I'm changing the Powerball soon to a Savage 120. I'm hoping it will a bit less metal sounding and better for leads 'n stuff. My frind is a rep from Digitech, so I'll give him a buzz and try one.

going by my savage se (i haven't tried the savage), it's a bit less metal. Still metal, but smooth mode puts you in hard rock/melodic shred mode, as opposed to death metal. Much more versatile than the PB, imo.

^i got my savage se (not an se, the savage se and se are different, lol) cheaper than a savage, lol, beyers in germany had them for a really good price. Unfortunately they're out of them now, and the savage se has been discontinued- the se is replacing it.

I have had this happen when the fx loop send and return level pots where set to high(trace elliot speed twin). Also check the level on the effects pedal.It may just be to much input for it, my marshall echohead pedal sounds great in the loop.
