I think he's got the tone knob wound back some on the neck

there`re NB demos with slightly different sound with more top end, more snap and certainly more articulation.
That`s why that demo that you have uploaded stroke me a bit with that warm and polite tone.

I know that the second one is metal oriented, but it blows my mind (tone wise as well) every time I listen to it.

Shame that there`s so little NB neck samples, looks like an interesting pickup.

If you're happy with a tone that is warm, fat and growly but looser than the A-Bomb (that I find very tight indeed), then look at a Crawler. It's a very versatile pickup. If you want something tighter and less hot, look at the Black Dog.
BKP owned:

Bridge - Emerald; Cold Sweat; Crawler; A-Bomb; Holydiver; Miracle Man; Sinner; Trilogy Suite

Neck - Emerald; Cold Sweat; Crawler; Holydiver; Sinner; Trilogy Suite

The Black Dog has a lot of low, growly mids.
Current BKPs: Miracle Man, Nailbomb, Juggernaut, VHII
Past BKPS: Holy Diver, Trilogy Suite, Sinner, Black Dog

Thanks for the clips.  I liked the first one a lot.  The second one was nice too, but it seemed to me that it was all bridge

You`re more than welcome. Yes, the second one is the bridge one only.

Just wondering why NB neck is not that popular, there`s very little info either here or other places.

I think it's time that Tim or someone at BKP did a proper video for the Nailbomb set.  It would improve sales of the neck.  It's a good pickup but my playing doesn't do it justice.  I'm pretty much a rhythm player only, besides a few hammer-ons when I can be bothered, and most of the time I don't switch to the neck pickup.  I mainly use it if I am playing cleans.

great idea, it`s well known fact that bridge Nailbombs are one of the best sellers out of BKP range. I pressume bridge only, mainly because there`s not much info about the neck one. Good point.

The ABomb neck is a great match for the bridge and a great pup on it's own. It's (obviously) less aggressive than the bridge and has a more vintagey / vocal character while keeping enough output and clarity to keep up with the bridge... For those who have experience with the RiffRaff set, there are quite some similarities in the way the neck sounds on it's own and the way it relates to the bridge.
Have: Crawlers, BGF 50/52s, Mules, ABomb, RiffRaff
Had : Slowhands (n&m), Trilogy (b)

Thanks, that`s really informative, cheers!
I read somewhere that apparently NB neck is underwound bridge model more or less. I only have an experience with Ceramic Nailbomb bridge and I wouldn`t call it a great lead pickup at all.
Actually leads is the last thing what I like about CBomb. It roars, screams, quite versatile, good cleans for ceramic pickup but not for leads in my opinion. You can obviously play some but it`s just ok.

How that aspect compares with neck version?

What?? cBomb bridge no lead tone?

I've got exclusively cBombs in my 6 Caparison's and they rule in both rhythm and solo and I've gone through the bkp/lundgren/dimarzio/sd/emg/motor city pickups sortiment.

The clarity/dynamics/harmonics the cBomb brings to my guitars is unbelievable. For a high gain player I get petrucci/hetfield/vh sound and with volume control even play some blues/rock tones.
I often pair a neck with a reverse wound cold sweat and on my horus a dimarzio chopper.

Well, I didnt say that CBomb cannot play leads. What I say was that leads are the last thing that I like about CBomb, it could be my taste, Im not arguing but I would not pick up CBomb as the first for playing leads.
Don`t get me wrong, its a great pickup, I really like it for rhythm (Both hi-gain and more classic overdriven tones), cleans are really good for ceramic pickup as well.

The only downsides of CBomb that I noticed over last 2 years of using it are:
-lead work
-not extremely precise
-note separation is not great either, under distortion once you play chord and some harmonic fill underneath, everything becomes a little blurry.

To sum up, if you`re looking for bridge pickup having great leads in mind or you`re playing modern metal, Bullet for my Valentine style type of thing (with loads of fills under distorted chords), I would not recommend CBomb.

I only have experience with the ABomb - I'm not into ceramic pups - and it works great for leads as far as I'm concerned.
