From blues description, it sounds like it needs something special (though ofcourse BK pickups are all special).

Though the mule bridge and P90 neck sounds like a good starting point  to me.

On all counts I reckon two Mississppi Queens - true pre humbucker Vintage tone - like a goldtop, awesome....

Great guitar, that Guild. I think a set of Stormy Modays would suit it best. Those would keep the original vibe of the guitar alive.

Guild are fine guitars. Fender kinda killed them, they only make jazz boxes and accoustics now.

As soon as I can afford one, I'll try to find a Guild X160 Rockabilly. It's supposed to blow most Gretsches out of the water.
