Bare knuckle VH II
« on: January 24, 2016, 10:19:12 AM »
Hello!
How do the VHII sound when you split the coils ?
I am after a more spanky/strat like tone when both pickups are on together.

Guitar is Kiesel Vader 6 with two hums a volume knob and threeway switch.

The VHII has a very good split reputation. Only beaten by the Crawler I think.
BKPs in use: 10th set / RY set / Holy Diver b, Emerald n / Crawler bridge, Slowhand mid MQ neck/ Manhattan n
On the sidelines: Stockholm b / Suppermassive n, Mule n, AM set, IT mid

Yeah I have both. The splits of the Crawler are better, but the VHII-splits are decent too.
Mules, VHII, Crawler, MM's, IT's, BG50's.

Crawler and vhii split great.
Vhii thinner and spanky and woody. (Almost srv)
Crawler thicker and spanky and woody.

Theres a vid in my threads where i demo a vhii split.

Not to hijack your thread, but you are saying that the Crawler splits better than the VHII? Are you comparing them as a set, or bridge vs bridge then?
BKs: Black Dog (b), Riff Raff (b), HSP90 Nantucket (b).

I am comparing necks. Better is a matter of objectives.
I was just having a play now with the vhi, crawler and cold sweat necks.
The vhii definitely has more spank less bottom, with lots of nice twinkly over tones (Split with irish tour)
The crawler is very smooth a fuller at the low mid and bottom with less bright attack. (Split with ibz s1)
The Coldsweat is pretty similar to the crawler. (Split with ibz s1)

Apologies if this thread was intended for bridge pos.
